Daily Life with Cloud Computing Technology

Cloud computing sounds quite complicated! Is it a bunch of computers in the cloud? Is it a bunch of clouds forming a computer network? I mean like people seriously think of a definition in the weirdest way possible but I always manage to hold back my laugh. Well, not everyone knows everything in this universe, there are a lot of mysteries out there that have not been proven in theory. Most people don’t know that we have been using various cloud computing technologies in our daily life. Like when we snap a shot with our smartphone device and Google Photo magically syncs your shots on the internet which is a cloud storage so that even if you break your smartphone after 5 mins all the shots will still be there for you to download it on a new device. Everyday we upload our documents, pictures, files on different websites and applications. Do we have any idea of how many cloud applications are being used without even knowing it is cloud technology? Answer is that not all people on this planet are aware of that. Today I will be talking about cloud computing definition, its benefits, what kind of cloud computing there are, kind of cloud application services, why we should use cloud computing service for a low operation cost with full efficiency for their needs.

Starting off with Cloud Computing definition

Cloud computing is a computing service with computer resources such as servers, data storage or cloud storage, computing power, databases, networking, software, analytic, and intelligence. It is used to demonstrate the internet as a cloud that generates fast innovation with flexible resources on an economical level. Cloud computation has functions distributed on several central server locations around the globe similar to the mobile and wireless networking in terms of how telecommunication companies keep expanding their cellular tower around the globe for better coverage. As for the cloud is mainly focused on content delivery networking central server is like the cellular tower which acts as the data storage to make it accessible fast for every area that requests that particular data. Cloud applications can be accessed by using the internet network when running an app or web as a front end to request the data that we want from cloud storage that is registered at.

Three types of Cloud Computing

There are 3 types of cloud computing that are public cloud, private cloud, and hybrid cloud. All this depends on the use case of your development.

Public Cloud

Public clouds provide their services on servers and storage on the Internet. They are owned by third party cloud service providers who deliver their computing resources over the internet like Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Amazon Web Service, and more. They handle and control all hardware, software, and infrastructure by letting clients access their services through accounts on a web browser.

Private Cloud

Private clouds are reserved for specific clients, usually one business or organization. This type of cloud computing is used by a single business or organization with a physical on-site datacenter of the company. Some involve third parties to host their private cloud. Most firms’ data service centers are hosted this way to maintain their services and infrastructure on a private network.

Hybrid Cloud

Hybrid clouds are, as the name implies, a combination of both public and private services. Combine both public and private clouds service by using technology that allows data and application to be moved between private and public clouds. All this allows more flexibility in order to optimize user’s infrastructure, security, compliance, and more deployment options.

Four types of Cloud Computing services

There are 4 types of cloud computing services that are IaaS, PaaS, serverless, and SaaS.

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)

Infrastructure as a Service, provides software developers to run their application on hardware and infrastructure like servers, virtual machines, storage, networks, operating systems from a cloud provider on a pay-as-you-go basis. For instance, Amazon offers its Amazon Web Services (AWS) for developers to build and deploy their cloud applications.

Platform as a Service (PaaS)

Platform as a Service , provides developers the fast way of creating websites and applications without worrying about managing the server infrastructure, storage, network, middleware, and databases needed for development. It is on demand focused on developing, testing, delivery, and managing software platforms. For example, Google App Engine is a hosting service offered by Google that allows developers to quickly and efficiently deploy cloud apps.

Serverless Computing

Serverless computing focuses on building app functionality without spending time continually on managing the servers, setting up, capacity planning, and infrastructure. Serverless architectures are highly scalable and event-driven, since they only use resources when a specific function or trigger occurs.

Software as a Service (SaaS)

Software as a Service provides a method for delivering software applications over the internet, cloud providers host and manage the software application with an underlying infrastructure, to handle all kinds of maintenance, such as software upgrades and security patching. Users can connect to the application through the internet with a subscription basis. Example Dropbox and Google Workspace.

Benefits of Cloud Computing

Lower cost

Speed

Global scale

Productivity

Performance

Greater reliability

Security

Why should we use Cloud Computing?

Create cloud-native applications

Test and build applications

Store, back up, and recover data

Analyze data

Stream audio and video

Embed intelligence

Deliver software on demand

A paragraph about cloud computing technology

In summary, cloud computing is an on demand computing service for building, testing, deploying, storing data, hosting websites and applications via the internet by letting users have some subscription access to the cloud. Computing resource development tools, networking capabilities, physical servers and virtual servers that are managed by cloud services providers. The three types of cloud computing like public cloud, private cloud, hybrid cloud for different types of development use-cases for company, organization, or individual. Four types of cloud computing services for developers to choose which cloud infrastructure are best suitable for their website or application development. Cloud computing helps to reduce the cost of development with a better security, performance, speed, reliability, and much more. In conclusion, cloud computing technology is an internet-based program that lets people who have subscription access to upload, download, perform services for their website and application development to fit their need of solutions.
